The Killing Fields: where large numbers of people were killed by the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979.  The estimated number of deaths during this regime are 2 million out of a population of 7 million. 
To save $ on bullets, the Khmer Rouge used machetes to slaughter their prisoners
